Hey you… Yea you. Life is happening. Right now. And now.
No matter what you do…
If you succeed or fail.
Life. Is now.
So I’ve been reading reviews for Ghost Stories, and it has been frustrating because a lot of them seem to be by people who absolutely hate Coldplay and always have so they aren’t giving any relevant feedback. I got the album from Target when it came out and got the three bonus tracks, I will admit that the entire album caught me a little off-guard… The past couple albums have seemed to tell a story, or at least it felt like all the songs fit together. I think this album does that, minus A Sky Full of Stars which seems like to most random track to put on this album. I mean don’t get me wrong I’m not hating on Coldplay because I do like the song, but I guess I feel annoyed that they put it into this album. It seems like they put it in there to maybe make fans of their past couple albums happy? I don’t know, it just doesn’t fit. I think the main thing I feel when I listen to this album is just an overwhelming sadness for a singer (who I really appreciate) who is very clearly going through a very tough time in his life. I know Gwyneth Paltrow is hated for various reasons by many people, but in the end this was still two people who loved each other and now they are getting divorced. So can everyone just shut the fuck up about how she is a bitch and all that and how stupid he is for ever being with her. We all fall in love with people for certain reasons and just because one person may seem abhorrent to you does not mean they are to someone else. Also maybe I ignore some of the things the press have quoted her saying because I love Chris Martin so I feel like he is with her for a reason. I think I just want to tell everyone to fuck off. This album is different, but every single one of their albums has been different and if you think about it are you the same person you were 5 years ago? 10 years ago? More than likely not, so stop pretending like it isn’t okay for a band to evolve and experiment with their music.
